British expat lists the massive mistakes Australians make in London

Australians looking to visit London should leave their ‘cool’ attitude behind, according to a British expatriate who claims a smile won’t make friends in her home country.

Jordana Grace, known as That British Girl on TikTok, warns that Londoners are ‘fast, always on the go and hate being delayed’ and don’t want to stop for a chat.

Which means you always need to know exactly what to do if you don’t want to get yelled at the moment you get in line.

“Always leave your card or ticket at the barrier,” she warned.

“This is not the time to look for it. Old ladies will yell at you,” she added.

She then revealed the “rules for escalators,” noting that you must stand on the right and walk on the left.

She admitted that it makes no sense given the British left-wing drive, but it is an entrenched rule in society.

Jordana also said it’s important that your belongings don’t block the “left lane.”

She says it’s also important not to talk or smile to people.

Her fifth tip is to go to a ‘proper pub’ and get a Sunday Roast Lunch, complete with Yorkshire pudding.

Her first five tourist tips sparked outrage among her followers — some claimed the instructions not to talk or smile were “just wrong.”

Not talking is false. On any visit to London, as soon as a resident hears my accent, they have full conversations with me. Seriously the nicest people,’ said one person.

And others agreed.

“All the interactions I’ve had with Londoners have been great.”

Some people laughed at the idea of Australia being ‘chiller’ than the UK.

“Sounds like you’re talking about Sydney,” one woman said.

Some people added their own warnings – in line with her first point about not holding up traffic.

“Don’t take up the whole sidewalk, I can’t survive getting stuck behind slow walkers,” said one man.

“Don’t stand in the middle of the sidewalk as you stare at the sights or check your phone card. Move aside or get carried away,’ said another.

The video, shared on TikTok, was such a hit that the young woman made two more.

Jordana said it’s also important to know how to get cheap theater tickets if you want to travel around London like a local.

Instead of buying them online, she recommends queuing at the ticket office to score front row seats for £20.”

“You may have to queue at 6,” she warned.

She also warns against wearing your backpack ‘on the front’.

“You look like a total tourist and a target,” she warns.

She then took out a bank card from her top and said she liked to keep her personal items close at hand.

You also have to be extra vigilant when crossing the road, says the expat, who says that you should check for cars, even if the green man is visible.

Cyclists also ‘come out of nowhere’, she warned: ‘Be on your guard’.

In a follow-up video, Jordana said it's important not to wear a backpack on your stomach because it makes you look like a tourist

She also recommends that visitors travel light to make it easier to take the stairs, escalators, and busy streets.

Jordana then warned to prepare for crushing crowds on the subway, and to wear layers and bring water because being so close to strangers can get “hot.”

The third video starts with tip number 13: ‘wear comfortable shoes’.

“People are surprised, but you can walk to a lot of places in London, but you also have to climb a lot of stairs,” she said.

She also warned against “man-spreading” or taking spare seats with luggage on trains.

Jordana said it’s your choice when it comes to getting an Uber or a Black Cab – while the signature taxis are more expensive, they know where they’re going.
