British Emily Damari confirmed to be among 33 Hamas hostages released as part of Gaza ceasefire
British hostage Emily Damari will be released as part of the deal between Israel and Hamas, Israeli media report.
The 28-year-old has been held in Gaza since she was shot in the hand and leg when she was snatched from her home in southern Israel during the Hamas attack on October 7.
Under a deal finally agreed this week, 33 hostages are expected to be released, including women, “children, the elderly, as well as sick civilians and the wounded.”
A list of names circulating in Israeli media includes men, women and children. Hamas has not indicated their condition.
Israel’s security cabinet will meet today to vote on an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza, with expectations that a ceasefire could come into effect as soon as Sunday.
The deal is expected to pass despite opposition from far-right members of the coalition, who say Hamas must be completely defeated before a deal is reached.
The hostages are expected to be released from 4pm on Sunday if the deal is passed.
