British chef Jamie Oliver left baffled by very popular Australian treat that he’s never tried: ‘Sounds like a terrible rash’

Jamie Oliver is a culinary legend.

But somehow the British chef has never tried a very popular Australian delicacy: the humble Tim Tam.

The chocolate-covered cookies, which have a cream filling, are a staple for Aussies and are known all over the world.

Jamie was presented with a Tim Tam on The Today Show last week and he seemed stunned by it.

‘What’s that in English? What did you just say?’ he asked the breakfast show host.

“Ah, Vegemite toast. What is a Tim Tam? What’s wrong, it sounds like a terrible rash,” the chef joked.

Despite his worldly taste buds, Jamie admitted it was the first time he had tasted the cookie.

“This is the moment of truth – I’ve never had this before,” he said, before taking a bite.

Luckily, Jamie was impressed and told the host: ‘Very, very nice. I will never forget this moment.’
