British-born Love It Or List It stars Neale Whitaker and Andrew Winter say Australians are more ‘obsessed with real estate’ than any other country
Neale Whitaker and Andrew Winter revealed that Australians are more ‘obsessed with property’ than any other country in the world.
The hosts of Love It Or List It, who are originally from Britain, said the fascination with property Down Under is like nothing they have ever experienced at home.
In conversation with The Binge Guide, which is being released at the same time Stellar magazine On Sunday they said ownership in Britain was ‘not a conversation at the table’.
“I think we’re obsessed with real estate in a good way in this country,” Neale, 61, told the publication.
He added: ‘Until I arrived in Australia I had never experienced the level of interest in real estate that I experienced in this country.’

Neale went on to say that this kind of passion and interest in property is very “unique” for Australians.
Meanwhile, fellow ‘Pom’ and television presenter Andrew attributed the fascination with property to something completely different.
“It’s the passion that Australians have for property, but it’s also because we all have a bit of voyeurism,” he said.
Speaking to The Binge Guide, which is released alongside Stellar magazine on Sunday, they said ownership in Britain was ‘not a dinner table conversation’.
Andrew added that it was an innate curiosity to “peek into other people’s lives” that fuels the “obsession” with property.
Neale and Andrew have been competing on Lifestyle’s Love It Or List It since 2017, but the property rivals wouldn’t have it any other way.
Neale, who is also a judge on Channel Nine’s renovation show The Block, once told Confidential that there is no one he would rather work with than Andrew.

“Andrew and I had met a few times, but I had never worked with him,” Neale told the publication in 2017.
He claimed that it was fantastic to work with such a talented property manager, saying that their chemistry together makes the show run so perfectly.
“We hit it off from day one,” Neale said.
‘We’re both British and we both have the same sense of humour.’
