A British Airways pilot has died during a stopover between flights at a resort on the island of St Lucia, according to reports.

The 47-year-old Senior First Officer is said to have collapsed at a luxury hotel for shocked tourists on the Caribbean island yesterday.

His death meant BA had to cancel flight BA2158 from Vieux Fort, which was due to land at London Gatwick at 8.50am today.

“This tragedy has left British Airways staff stunned and deeply upset,” a source reportedly said The sun.

‘The Senior First Officer was very popular and his death came completely out of the blue.’
