British 19-year-old dies and passenger injured after flipping over quad bike ‘at low speed’ and crushed under it in Greece

A 19-year-old British man has died in Greece after crashing a quad bike, causing the vehicle to overturn and crush himself.
The tragedy took place in the village of Mesos Gerakari, on the island of Zakynthos, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The quad reportedly veered suddenly off course, fatally injuring the teen.
Another 19-year-old passenger was involved in the accident but suffered only minor bruises.
Both were wearing helmets, ERT Zakynthos reported, and would be moving at a low speed.

The unnamed driver then allegedly made sudden erratic movements, resulting in the crash, with the vehicle overturning and crushing itself underneath.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and the teenager was taken to Zakynthos hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are now conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the events leading up to the death.
The man’s body will also undergo an autopsy and toxicology examination.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Greece and are in contact with local authorities.”
