Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe decides NOT to buy Liverpool OR Man United due to lack of ‘value’ in the Premier League compared to France where he runs Ligue 1 club Nice
- Liverpool was put up for sale by Fenway Sports Group on Monday
- There has also been speculation that Manchester United could be put up for sale
- Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expressed interest in buying a Premier League club in the past
- He now wants to focus on improving Nice’s Ligue 1 side rather than buying a Premier League club
Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe has announced that he is not interested in buying Liverpool or Manchester United, and has instead set his sights on improving the fate of the Ligue 1 outfit Nice, as France has ‘better value’ than the Premier League.
Liverpool was put up for sale by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) on Monday, while there was also speculation that the Glazer family may be willing to share their stake in United amid growing unrest among supporters.
However, Ratcliffe, who failed to buy Chelsea earlier this year, has ruled himself out of buying Liverpool or United.
“Our position has evolved since the summer and we are now concentrating on Nice and raising our ambitions for the club to make them a top club in France to compete with PSG,” a Ratcliffe spokesman told The Telegraph.
“This would be a much better value for our investment than buying one of the best Premier League clubs.”
