Britain’s Got Talent sparks ‘fakery’ row as footage featuring judge Amanda Holden shows moment being RE-FILMED during Blackpool auditions
Britain’s Got Talent’s first day of auditions in Blackpool has already sparked a backlash as footage appeared to show one of the performances being re-filmed.
Judge Amanda Holden appeared in an excited video from the first day of filming in the city after pressing her Golden Buzzer.
In the clip, shared to BGT’s Instagram account, she said: “It’s for something you wouldn’t expect me to insist on!”
However, eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that in the background of the clip, a member of the crew could be heard telling the audience that a moment would be “recreated.”
They said, “We’re going to bring Oliver back to the stage and we’re going to recreate that moment, just to get another one…” before the video cut.

Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden were joined by guest judge KSI as auditions for the ITV show kicked off in the British city
Some fans were quick to share their thoughts on X, with messages like: “It never used to be normal. Just a few years ago they started to stand out unnecessarily at auditions, they used to be more authentic.
“First of all, it doesn’t go that deep, but second of all, it’s just hilarious that they *don’t* tell the public to film just to let this slip online themselves.”
‘TV has been fake since time immemorial lol – TV is there to entertain and sometimes reality is boring and needs a boost;
‘I was at an audition in 2011 and I haven’t been able to watch it since. Fake doesn’t even cut it. The whole show is scripted.”
On Tuesday Amanda revealed a first sneak peek of the 2024 jury after KSI temporarily replaced Bruno Tonioli.
The veteran judge posed for a cheeky selfie backstage with her fellow judges.
She took to her Instagram Story with the photo and wrote in her caption, “What a lineup. Send [love] to @brunotonioliofficial.’
Despite auditions starting this week, the next series won’t hit TV screens until next year.
In a clip of Amanda talking about pressing her Golden Buzzer, fans noticed a member of the crew telling the audience that they were going to “recreate” a moment.
Luckily for fans, though, they won’t have to wait as long as they’re used to, as the show returns two months earlier than usual – starting in February instead of April, as is normally the case.
KSI will star on the talent show’s judging panel for only three of the five audition days in the first round.
A source said the sun: ‘Bosses were keen for KSI to appear as a full-time judge would as he has to appear for a number of days.
‘It means there will be one more Golden Buzzer act this year, with the other judges and presenters Ant and Dec also getting the chance to press it.
‘It will undoubtedly make the final more exciting to see which jury can best identify a winner.’
It is believed that the musician and amateur boxer was brought in by Simon to attract a younger audience.
Last year it was rumored that he would close a deal to join the show, according to a source The sun at the time: ‘Simon Cowell knows that KSI is a big hit with the younger generation.
“He would be a great addition to attract teenage fans, something the producers are keen to do.
‘KSI is talking to bosses in the hope of closing a deal that also fits into his hectic schedule.’
But when rumors first emerged that the star would be joining the panel, Simon was forced to quash rumors that Bruno would be permanently axed.
Last year it was confirmed that the Italian choreographer would return for the next series, despite scheduling conflicts.
Simon appeared on Heart Radio at the time and emphasized: ‘I wouldn’t replace him. I love Bruno on the show.”
He explained that due to the clashes with Bruno’s schedule, the star would be substituted for some auditions that he cannot attend.
Responding to the rumours, presenter Jamie Theakston asked the star: ‘I’m going to read you a headline today from one of the newspapers Simon… ‘Britain’s Got Talent to drop jury, Bruno’
As Simon admitted the headline was fake, Jamie insisted: “Okay, what about that isn’t the truth?”
KSI will only star on the talent show’s judging panel for three of the five first-round audition days, due to Bruno Tonioli’s filming commitments in the US.
Simon explained, “Seriously. I was talking to… I don’t know where all this stuff comes from. I literally spoke to the producers two weeks ago about a scheduling issue with Bruno.
“Because we’re doing auditions… some of the auditions this year and he’s going to America.
“So maybe there will be a stand-in for him. Don’t know. But I love Bruno on the show. I think he’s brilliant.’
Heart Radio co-host and fellow judge Amanda agreed, adding: “He brings such a great energy and he knows so much.”
“And he knows so much what he’s talking about. And he’s actually a brilliant, brilliant judge and the nicest person. So no, I wouldn’t replace him,” Simon added.
“So…Bruno’s coming back?” Jamie asked as Simon confirmed once and for all, “He’ll be back.”
In candor, Simon said, “Can I be honest with you? I wouldn’t change this jury, I think it’s something… it’s like your show, your number one. Why would I change the BGT?’
