Britain’s Got Talent: Bruno Tonioli allows vote to be swayed by crowd

Viewers of Britain’s Got Talent were outraged during the show’s final episode on Saturday when new judge Bruno Tonioli allowed his vote for an act to be influenced by the public.

Entering the ITV talent competition for the first time in this series, the former Strictly Come Dancing panelist, 67, was tasked with putting his professional dance skills to use for the first auditions of the evening.

Romeo and Icy with twinkling toes took the stage to show off their slick moves after talking about how they met at a party and decided to create their entertaining act.

However, despite their energetic display, the panel was divided, with Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden deciding to send them through to the next stage, while Bruno and Alesha Dixon thought they were not up to par.

Things soon changed when the crowd became hostile to Bruno as he cast his vote, jeering and booing him in an attempt to get him to change his mind.

Luckily for the audience at the audition, Bruno relented and decided to change his vote to a ‘yes’, allowing Romeo and Icy to advance to the next stage of the competition.

However, the situation did not sit well with viewers at home, with many taking to Twitter to express their frustration.

Someone wrote: ‘What good is a jury if the audience changes the result of an average dance duo. Bad Twist and Pulse imo.’

While someone else asked: ‘Since when does the public have a say?!’

Another person wrote, “What c**p, the audience just laughed at them and went crazy and Bruno changed his mind. This show makes me cringe when they treat silly acts like they’re something special.”

While another viewer tweeted, “#bgt Grow some Bruno, instead of changing your mind because the audience was told to sound mad.”

‘I agree with Bruno. They were good, but not good enough. The public reaction is ridiculous. Bruno is a dancer and choreographer. His opinion is worth ten times Amanda’s opinion,” someone else wrote.

While another person shared, “If the whole audience has a vote, what’s the point of the jury?” Just get a folding meter in it.’

Meanwhile, Amanda came up with a quirky idea for a new act, as she suggested to her fellow panel the idea of putting together a “dog bond.”

After a day of watching acts from around the country give their best, Amanda said, “That gave me an idea, why don’t we try and put on a dog band now.”

While Alesha and Bruno laughed off the suggestion, show boss Simon wanted to know more.

“So, what we did with One Direction, you want to do with dogs?” the mogul clarified, to which his friend confirmed.

The newest judge Bruno laughed at Amanda’s suggestion, while Simon thought about it.

The talent show is never short of dog acts, with pup Pudsey – who was a Border Collie, Bichon Frize and Chinese Crested powderpuff mix – even winning in 2012 with his owner Ashleigh.

While One Direction formed during the series of The X Factor in 2010, with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan as solo acts before the judges decided to put them together.
