Britain must change ‘sicknote culture’: Sunak focuses on disability benefits – video

In a speech on wellbeing changes, Rishi Sunak has said Britain needs to change a ‘sick note culture’ where people take long-term leave from work. The Prime Minister announced new restrictions on disability benefits and said he wanted to explore whether some cash payments to claimants with mental health problems could be replaced with treatment or access to services. “We don’t just need to change the sick note, we need to change the sick note culture, so that the standard becomes what work you can do, not what you can’t do,” Sunak said.
