Britain issues dire travel advisories warning of popular tourist hotspots as Israel-Lebanon conflict ‘changes rapidly’

The UK government has issued a dire travel warning for Brits visiting a popular tourist hotspot.

The warning comes in the wake of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, with Israel invading southern Lebanon and Iran firing hundreds of missiles at its sworn enemy.

This has prompted the government to warn holidaymakers that ‘terrorists are likely to attempt to carry out attacks’ on a destination that welcomes millions of tourists every year.

It continued: “Attacks can be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners. These include references to attacks on Western interests, including against British citizens.”

It means that popular areas such as transport networks, beaches, hotels, restaurants and shopping centers could be at risk of attack in the region in question.

The government has issued the advisory for anyone heading to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including popular destinations Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

It is the result of what it has described as “ongoing hostilities between Israel and Lebanon,” which it says “could quickly escalate and pose risks to the broader region.”

Further warnings for anyone concerned about the situation while in the UAE is to keep an eye on the travel advice page and other media.

Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza last year, Hezbollah has launched rocket attacks on northern Israel almost every day.

The Lebanese militia, which is part of Iran’s Axis of Resistance along with the Palestinian terror group Hamas, has said it will continue to attack Israel until there is a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli army has fired back at southern Lebanon, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee.

Border communities in Israel were also evacuated, with about 60,000 residents moving south after daily rocket attacks worsened from October 8.

On September 17, Israeli officials made the decision to destroy as much of Hezbollah’s arsenal as possible in an intensified campaign.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that improving security in Israel’s north, allowing evacuated Israelis to be safely returned to their homes, would become an official war objective.
