Lincoln McCarthy could be in trouble with the match rating panel after appearing to punch Richmond rival Kamdyn McIntosh, though the officials missed the incident.
Tempers flared in the first quarter of the giant game at the Gabba on Thursday, when the two players came together to contest an air ball in the Lions’ forward 50.
Neither player got hold of the ball, but squared off after a free kick was paid to the hosts. When they got together, McCarthy landed a fist on McIntosh’s jaw while clutching his jersey.
However, the on-field umpires missed the punch and the incident went unpunished.
Footy fans took to Twitter to express their outrage at the lack of repercussions for McCarthy, who lashed out at the referees.

“Right in front of the referee who ignored it,” said one fan.
A second said, “How can an umpire standing there and watching it not pay a reversal?”
“How did the referee definitely miss the free kick and the reversal,” said another. “Head high contact if the AFL also consistently wants a one-week suspension.”
A fourth fan quipped, “Umps needs to borrow Mason Cox’s specs.”
