Brisbane truckie relieves himself in a Teak Lane laneway at Victoria Point

Nauseating moment that truck driver relieves himself on the street

  • The man claimed he was sick and had diarrhea

A man has been caught on camera defecating with frustrated locals who claim the public hallway is a hot spot for disgusting behaviour.

CCTV captured the man, believed to be a lorry driver, dropping his pants and defecating on Teak Lane near Victoria Point, in eastern Brisbane.

Locals confronted the man who claimed he was suffering from diarrhea and couldn’t wait for him to get to his destination.

The truck driver’s poop is just one of more than 20 formal complaints from locals calling for greater safety on roads illuminated by only a single solar light.

It took the council more than a day to send a crew of workers to the avenue to clean up the excrement.

“The man was sick and the feces…attracted flies,” local Maria Sealy said.

“I’m concerned because this is a public place and where we have a community garden, so people can get in close contact with it.”

Trespassers and other incidents such as urinating and ‘mooning’ CCTV cameras are quite common in the avenue.

Ms Sealy has spent more than a decade sending complaints to the council in an effort to influence changes to make it safer.

She has repeatedly forwarded her CCTV footage to the Redland City Council, but was blocked for sending too many complaints.

The council has decided to introduce a curfew and lock gate above the alley.

Teak Lane’s daily gate closure has now been extended to the hours of 4pm to 7am, and other changes have also been made.

“The gate will close from 4pm to 7am Monday to Friday and from 3pm to 8am on Saturday and Sunday, effective from approximately the end of May,” the statement continued.

“The council has taken action in Teak Lane in the interests of community safety.”

These new actions include: maintenance of the grounds, additional lighting and signage, daily locking and reopening of the gate, improved access for police and security.
