Terrifying footage has captured the moment a snake catcher pulled a huge python from the roof of a house and discovered the reptile had killed a possum and the animal’s baby.
Video of the moment the massive 2.6-metre carpet python was pulled from a hole in the ceiling of a Brisbane home on Wednesday was uploaded to the Snake Catchers Brisbane and Gold Coast Facebook page.
The shocked homeowner watched as snake catcher Steph bravely removed the huge reptile.
She noticed that something was interfering with her efforts to pull the python from the ceiling and began peeling away parts of the roof in an attempt to create more space.
To her surprise, she found a female brushtail possum stuck in the ceiling after being killed by the snake.

When Steph started pulling the possum out of the roof in an attempt to remove the snake, she discovered the animal’s baby.
The female homeowner gasped as the young animal lay limp in Steph’s hands.
She continued to tear away more parts of the ceiling while the possum’s leg remained stuck to the roof.
“Oh, that’s a huge one,” the homeowner whispered under his breath.
Finally, Steph was able to create enough space in the ceiling and successfully removed the huge snake.
After peeling off several sections of the roof, Steph, the snake catcher, discovered a possum wedged into the ceiling along with the python (pictured) before eventually freeing the reptile from the roof.
The possum then landed on the ground with a loud thud.
“Oh my goodness lord,” the homeowner exclaimed.
Steph released the python as the shocked homeowner and her daughter watched in horror.
Steph then placed the snake in a large beige bag before putting the possum inside.
The python was later released into the wild.
