- Neale says her relationship with her husband is solid
- Says Brisbane Lions WAGs group is close
- Reports suggested the trip to Vegas resulted in a locker room rift
Jules Neale, the wife of Brisbane Lions superstar Lachie Neale, has opened up about the AFL club’s scandalous pre-season trip and her marriage to the team’s co-captain.
It has been reported that a rift has emerged between Lions teammates over what happened while they were in Las Vegas and that some players have had “tough conversations” with each other as a result.
While club officials are adamant in saying nothing untoward happened on the trip, the reports coincide with an 0-3 start to the season by last year’s grand finalists, increasing speculation of division among the players.
Lions football boss Danny Daly denied to the media on Monday that a “crisis meeting” had taken place after the allegations about the trip to the United States were first broadcast.
With reports of tense relations within the club, Jules Neale revealed her relationship with her two-time Brownlow medalist husband Lachie is ‘solid’.

“Every relationship has different pressures, it’s important to keep the outside noise out, in any relationship, regardless of whether it’s in the public eye, it’s unfortunately inevitable that people are going to have their own opinions,” she shared The courier post.
“I think Lachie and I have a really solid relationship, and that’s all that really matters.”
Jules added that the Lions’ WAG group is “close-knit,” which is very different from rumors of division within the group.
“We all have great relationships, but a lot of people forget that the club is just a fraction of our lives, so we all have great friendships and lives outside of it as well,” she said.
After her husband was awarded the 2023 Brownlow Medal, he paid tribute to Julie, describing her as a pillar of strength.
‘To Jules, my wife. She is my rock,” Neale said.
‘She puts up with way too much from me. So thank you very much. I love you.
‘I can’t put into words what you do for me, and how well you let me do my job and support me. So thank you very much.”

The hairstylist and the Brisbane Lions star met when he was just a teenager, but they didn’t date romantically until about six years later.
The couple married in Perth in November 2018, before moving to Brisbane together when Neale switched from the Fremantle Dockers to the Lions.
When Neale won his first Brownlow in 2020, he revealed the huge personal sacrifice his wife had made to support him.
“My wife Jules, she is a wonderful person,” Neale said in his acceptance speech.
“Not many people probably know, but she had a salon in Perth before we decided to move to Brisbane. She had to sell that to come here and follow my dreams.
“She did really well for herself there, but she always puts me first when she shouldn’t.
“She is the most selfless person I know and my biggest support, so thank you so much Jules, I love you.”
