Brisbane Lions co-captain Harris Andrews has broken his silence by insisting there are no internal tensions at the club, dismissing the impact of an off-season trip to Las Vegas on the club’s poor AFL start .

Last year’s grand finalists are 0-3 ahead of Friday’s Gather Round date against North Melbourne, and the playing group is feeling the heat after reports of a dressing room rift just days after the club’s 2023 success led.

Andrews, who was on holiday in Europe while a small group of teammates went away together in October and November, is confident the squad is not divided.

“There’s no tension at all, there’s nothing to worry about,” he said.

“There has been a huge explosion (externally) in the last few days, but as a group we are united, all in the same boat.

Brisbane Lions football boss Danny Daly was on the same page and on Monday the media denied a “crisis meeting” had taken place after the allegations were aired on Friday.

“We can’t control what other people say… we haven’t had the start we wanted and people are going off the beaten path to come up with reasons why we started this way.”

It comes as Lions football boss Danny Daly denied to the media on Monday that a ‘crisis meeting’ had taken place after the allegations were first aired.

It was confirmed on Sunday that a series of ‘compromising photos’ from a WhatsApp chat were at the center of the saga.

A defiant Daly branded the reporting of the incident as ‘poor, insensitive and factually incorrect’.

Daly said he had called co-captains Andrews and Lachie Neale to get assurances there were no divisions within the playing group, and insisted no personal relationships had ended because of the trip.

“It was an interesting Easter from the club’s perspective,” he said.

“We have contacted our leaders and they have reassured us… there is no recourse.

‘I always have confidence in our playing group, that’s where it ends. “The (Vegas) trip has nothing to do with our performance on the field.

‘This group has experienced many highlights and many setbacks together.

‘We have complete confidence in them.’
