Brisbane family horrified after making deadly discovery in their daughter’s bed

A family were shocked to discover a red-bellied black snake hiding among soft toys in their daughter’s bed.

The venomous reptile was found in a home in Jimboomba, southwest Brisbane, on Sunday morning.

The shocked family immediately called a snake catcher to remove the snake.

Bryan Lockett, from Snake Catchers Brisbane & Gold Coast, arrived at the property and worked quickly to get the snake off the bed.

A chilling video was shared on Facebook and captured the moment Mr Lockett gently led the creature to the ground.

A red-bellied black snake (pictured center) was found hiding on a young girl’s bed at a home in Jimboomba in Brisbane’s south-west on Sunday morning.

“Definitely not what you want on the bed,” Mr. Lockett said.

He then helped the reptile slip into a white bag before the snake was removed.

Hundreds of social media users expressed their fears following the gruesome discovery.

“Well, I’m not rushing to move to Jimboomba,” one person wrote.

“My worst nightmare,” wrote another.

‘OMG. I hope it wasn’t there when the child was sleeping,” a third added.

Presumably the snake entered the room through a door left open.

Red-bellied black snakes are highly venomous and can be fatal to humans, but very few deaths have been recorded.

The snakes are mainly found along the east coast of Australia.

Anyone approaching a red-bellied snake is advised not to approach or attack the creature, as it may strike back if confronted.

When a snake is detected, people should keep their distance and leave plenty of space between themselves and the reptile.

Snakes are also adept at disguising themselves, which is why people should avoid walking in tall grassy areas to avoid accidentally stepping on them.
