A close family friend of Cassie’s, Bree Berg, told the Courier Mail she was devastated.

“No speechless Cassie, my little girl,” said Mrs. Berg. ‘My heart is broken.

“Tyson and Cass (you) are strong. I hope (you) get through this… I love you both with all my heart.

Please, I can’t believe it. I don’t know what I would do without (you) in my life, it will be fine.’

Ms Berg added that Tyson had just lost his father.

Off-duty nurse Angeline Martin lives around the corner from the crash site and she told The Courier Mail that she heard a ‘bang’ which caused her to run out and see the car engulfed in flames.

Ms Martin said farmers rescued the vehicle’s occupants and by the time she got to them they were ‘disarrayed’ by the side of the road.

“The girl asked for her brother, so I put her head in my lap and said, ‘Your brother is fine, help him on his way,'” Ms Martin said.

“I’m not sure it was her brother, but one of the boys screamed for help—both his legs were crushed.”

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
