A baby was dragged into a savage brawl that broke out on the Brisbane city bus when screaming passengers struck furious blows and grabbed hold.

Footage shows the fight erupt on Brisbane’s infamous Route 100, as two women and a man hold hands in the middle of the bus, while the babies’ cries are drowned out by screams of rage.

A woman with a pink backpack is seen launching herself and raining ferocious blows on another woman and the man, pushing them against the middle partition of the bus.

A baby, strapped to the chest of the women who are clamped against a pole, can be heard crying.

The woman with the baby is clumsily crushed with one leg raised against the center pole of the bus.

Meanwhile, the driver seems to be wrestling with another woman in the front of the bus.

The woman then grabs something off the floor and walks back to join the struggle in the middle section.

The scuffle broke out in the center section of the bus and initially two women and a man were involved

She pushes back into the woman with the pink backpack.

Finally, the driver and a male passenger in the back of the bus intervene to separate the furious warring factions.

The child was said to have been unharmed in the incident.

Bus union representative Tom Brown told Nine news that the 100 bus route along which the incident happened has become infamous among drivers.

“Drivers are afraid to drive the 100 route and no wonder the problems are constantly flaring up,” said Mr Brown.

Another union representative, Peter Allen, said drivers are “sick and tired of the violence they see every day.

Bus 100 runs from the southeastern suburb of Forest Lake to the city.

It’s not the only route in Brisbane’s suburbs where motorists say they’re seeing increasing violence.

The 110, which runs from the southwestern suburb of Inala to the city, also has a bad reputation, as does the 330 route, which passes through the northern suburbs.

Improving safety on Brisbane’s buses has turned into a competition between the LNP-led Brisbane City Council and the Labor state government.

Both point the finger at the other in charge of improving safety on Brisbane buses.

The Brisbane Labor Council opposition has called for someone to own the problem.

“The sad fact is that Brisbane City Council bus drivers are not safe while on the job,” said Labor councilor Jared Cassidy.
