A baby boy who required multiple surgeries after being verbally abused for hot coffee during a bizarre daytime attack in a Brisbane park has finally been discharged from hospital.
Nine-month-old Luka was with his mother and a friend at Hanlon Park in Coorparoo on August 27 when he was allegedly attacked by a man who threw a thermos of coffee over him.
After more than a week in the hospital and several major surgeries, the boy’s mother announced Wednesday afternoon that the toddler was finally home.

In a social media post, the mother said they had been home “for a few hours and he had already hit his head.”
“It’s going to be a great few months. Back to the hospital on Friday and then Monday to start the vaccination process,” she said.
A photo accompanying the post shows Luka smiling broadly in his mother’s arms, with bandages around his arm and chin.
Baby Luka’s third surgery took place on Monday. Previous procedures had already shown that he would likely be left with scars under his neck and chest as a result of the severe burns.

The man believed to be behind the attack fled the park and, despite a search lasting more than a week by police and appeals to the public, has still not been found by officers.
After fleeing the park, he went to a church in nearby Tarragindi, where he changed clothes outside.
He then took a taxi to Brisbane’s CBD and drove to Caxton Street.
Last week, police released images of a man they want to talk to, described as between 30 and 40 years old and wearing a black hat, glasses, shirt and shorts.
