Brigitte Macron ‘loves reading about Kate Middleton’ and British Royal Family who are ‘big sellers’ in France, experts tell PALACE CONFIDENTIAL

Brigitte Macron enjoys reading about the British royal family being “big sellers” of celebrity magazines in France, experts have revealed.

Madame Macron and her husband, President Emmanuel Macron, welcomed the King and Queen on their recent state visit to France – with the two couples becoming fast friends.

Camilla and Brigitte seemed particularly close, giggling together and helping each other during the trip – which is considered a huge success for the monarchy.

Speaking to Palace Confidential, Daily Mail editor-in-chief Rebecca English explained that both the Macrons and the French public were charmed by Charles and Camilla.

“The palace certainly considered it a success,” she explained.

‘I’ve done a lot of state visits over the years and I think it was definitely at the top when it comes to setting up things that need to be done and actually achieving them

‘There was a real warmth and welcome from President Macron and his wife, and also from the crowd.

‘You never know what you’re going to get and the opportunities to mingle with the crowd were limited because there have been major security problems in France.

“There were loud shouts of ‘Vive Le Roi’, which is probably the first time they’ve heard that in France in 100 years,” she added.

‘I thought it would be too cool for it, but far from it.

‘One of the things I’ve learned from meeting new friends at some French celeb magazines is that the royal family are big sellers for them

“And apparently Madame Macron is one of the big consumers – she enjoys reading about the British Royal Family, especially the Princess of Wales.”

Rebecca, who was accompanied by diary editor Richard Eden and Jo Elvin, added that the trip was a great example of ‘soft diplomacy’.

Camilla and Brigitte showed a lot of friendship during the royal family’s four-day trip to France.

The Queen, 76, and the First Lady of France, 70, appeared to forge a close friendship at the Palace of Versailles as Brigitte helped Camilla with her statement Dior cape on the red carpet.

The next morning they looked just as cozy in the French National Library.

As the Queen and First Lady posed for photos during their visit, they both appeared to be laughing – with Brigitte even holding her hand over her mouth to contain her laughter – and Camilla did her best to deliver a speech in to keep French.

The cozy appearance between the two women comes after they shared a sweet moment at the Palace of Versailles last night, when Brigitte helped Queen Camilla adjust her cape on the beautiful Dior dress.

The Queen paid tribute to the country where her state visit took place by having the French fashion house design her hooded party dress.

Brigitte also chose the same designer to produce her elegant floor-length gown with sheer sleeves and gem-encrusted cuffs and collar as she attended the event alongside President Emmanuel Macron.

The elegant ladies formed a power duo on the red carpet as they joined Macron and King Charles on the red carpet for the state banquet.

In a sweet moment, the French first lady was pictured donning Queen Camilla’s striking navy blue cape on her way to the palace.

The stately foursome was joined at the banquet by a cohort of exclusive guests, including Hollywood actor Hugh Grant.

The guests enjoyed lobster, crab and 30-month aged Comté cheese together.

When she arrived in France earlier in the day, Queen Camilla also paid tribute to British designers by opting for a stunning pink coat dress from Fiona Clare.

Brigitte was chic as always in a navy blue Saint Laurent suit with cute anchor button detailing.

But at the Palace of Versailles, the couple coordinated, although their dresses were different enough not to lead to a full-on twinning effect.

Like Brigitte’s sheer sleeve on her long Louis Vuitton dress with its bejeweled collar, Camilla’s cape allowed a flattering flash of flesh without revealing too much. And the tails of the cape provided the drama befitting a new monarch.

The lack of embellishment provided an ideal canvas for the Royal Collection’s most dazzling jewels: the sapphire necklace, bracelet and earrings that her father George VI gave to the late queen as her wedding gift.
