Brighton weighing up club record £40m bid for Levi Colwill from Chelsea

Brighton weighs a club record £40million on Levi Colwill after Chelsea turned down a £30million offer and insisted he was NOT for sale… as Roberto De Zerbi wants to sign the center back on a permanent contract after he left last season on loan impressed

  • Levi Colwill impressed on loan at Brighton, helping them qualify for Europe
  • Brighton are keen to bring the defender back, but this time on a permanent contract
  • The 20-year-old enjoyed his time at the Amex, which gives Brighton hope

Brighton are considering an improved bid of around £40 million for Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.

Chelsea turned down a £30m offer from Brighton last week and are adamant they have no intention of parting ways with Colwill this summer.

His contract with Chelsea runs until 2025 and includes an appearance-related optional 12 months.

But Brighton are considering testing Chelsea’s resolve once again with a bid that would set a new all-time high for the south coast club.

20-year-old Colwill spent the season on loan at Brighton and impressed by helping them qualify for Europe for the first time.

He enjoyed his time at the Amex, where he was first introduced to Premier League football, and also worked under manager Roberto De Zerbi, something Brighton may have encouraged.

However, as well as Chelsea’s club stance, new head coach Mauricio Pochettino is also keen to work with Colwill, who has been tipped as a future England international.

Brighton’s interest in a permanent move for Colwill comes at the same time as Chelsea Seagulls midfielder Moises is eyeing Caicedo.

Brighton are expected to demand a minimum of £80 million for the midfielder who signed a new contract in March but has been assured he can leave this summer for the right price.

Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are both targeted by clubs in Saudi Arabia, while a delegation travels to England for talks.

Kante’s contract with Chelsea expires this month and talks have yet to lead to an extension.

That has left the door open for champions Al-Ittihad and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, who are willing to pay Kante £86m per season to move to the Pro League.

Striker Aubameyang is interesting for the Al-Hilal and Al-Shabab, who finished third and fourth, but were also sought after by clubs in Europe.

He was ruled out by Chelsea after only joining the club last summer and the Blues may have to put in an installment deal to cover the remainder of his contract.

Aubameyang has 12 months left on the first two-year deal he signed when he joined Chelsea.
