Brighton have hired Ansu Fati from Barcelona for a season.
The talented winger has joined Roberto De Zerbi’s squad after becoming frustrated with his lack of regular starts under Barcelona boss Xavi.
The Zerbi told Brighton’s official website that he is hopeful that the club can get Fati back to his best.
The Zerbi said, ‘This is a great deal for all of us. I am sure Ansu will help us reach a new goal and we can help him get back to the level he deserves.”
Brighton technical director David Weir described 20-year-old Fati as one of the best young players in the world.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is delighted that his club has hired Fati
Weir said: ‘We are happy to bring Ansu to the club. He is one of the most highly rated young players in the world and, despite his age, has an impressive amount of experience both at home and in European competition.
“This season is the biggest in the club’s history and we are very happy to have a player of Ansu’s quality as part of it. We will give him the chance to integrate into the team and get used to working with Roberto, but of course we are happy to see him in a Brighton shirt.’
Sevilla were also interested in a move for Fati, but he chose to move to Brighton.
Fati joined Barcelona in 2019 at the age of 16 and became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer when he found the net against Osasuna.
He has made 112 appearances for Barcelona in total, but injury has hampered his progress and he has struggled to start regularly under Xavi.
