Brighton have accepted a £25million bid for Feyenoord defensive midfielder Mats Wieffer, 24.

The Seagulls, who had a £30million bid rejected for Leeds United striker Georginio Rutter, have also offered £7million plus bonuses for Gothenburg midfielder Malick Yalcouye, 18.

Liverpool are not interested in Wieffer as they believe they have enough cover – despite Dutch rumours.

Wieffer joined Feyenoord in 2022, after previously playing for FC Twente and Excelsior.

He played nine international matches for the Netherlands and scored once.
