Brighton are continuing talks with Boca Juniors over an £8million deal for left-back Valentin Barco.

The 19-year-old has been on their radar for some time and since the summer they have been in pole position to secure his signature.

Manchester City are also said to have shown an interest in hijacking the Seagulls' attack for the youngster, a regular at Boca Juniors.

Brighton's scouting network in America has helped them bring in countless emerging talents over the years.

Their status as a club in Europe that can still offer a clear path to the first team is attractive.

Circumstances are different at Sheffield Wednesday, who currently find themselves in the Championship relegation zone, although their form has improved significantly under Danny Rohl.

Brighton are in a good position between the sticks, with Jason Steele and Bart Verbruggen swapping gloves, so a loan is by far his best chance at regular football.
