- Comedian Tessa Coates was shocked by her reflection in the wedding dress
A bride-to-be was stunned by her own wedding dress photo, which showed two different reflections back at her in the mirror.
Writer and comedian Tessa Coates uploaded a photo to Instagram of her wedding dress shopping on October 2, but was surprised by the outcome.
The image shows Ms. Coates posing in front of two mirrors in the dress, only for a wider shot of the photo to see her somehow in three different positions.
Seen from behind her, Mrs. Coates is seen with one arm across her body and one arm at her side.
But the reflections in the two mirrors both show her in different poses, one showing her arms at her sides, and the other with her fingers interlocked..
The photo, which shows Ms. Coates posing in front of two mirrors in the dress, is only for a wider shot of the photo that somehow shows her in three different positions. In the photo from behind Tessa you see her with one arm across her body and one arm at her side. However, the reflections in the two mirrors both show her in different poses, one seeing her arms at her sides, and the other with them in front of her, her fingers interlocked.
In a post on Instagram, Tessa explained the seemingly bizarre incident: ‘I went wedding dress shopping and the reality of reality crumbled.
‘This is a real photo, not photoshopped, not a panorama, not a Live Photo. If you don’t see the problem, keep looking and you won’t be able to undo it.’
She labeled the incident as an “error in the matrix that caused her to “nearly throw up in the street” after realizing what had happened.
Baffled by how this happened, she went to an Apple Store in Covent Garden, London to see if the photo could have thrown back other reflections due to a technological glitch.
Ms Coates then explained how an employee called Roger was able to provide an explanation for the discrepancies in the snaps.
Speaking on Instagram Live, she shared Roger’s explanation that because “an iPhone is a computer and not a camera, when it takes a photo, it takes a series of burst images from left to right very quickly.”
Ms Coates said the seemingly surreal photo could be explained by the fact that she raised her arms at the exact moment the phone took a photo of her back.
She said this caused the two photos to be stitched together despite being separate snapshots, due to pure coincidence that must have occurred in “a split second.”
The bride-to-be also said it could be down to Apple trialling a similar technology to that used by Google Pixel handsets, where your device can automatically choose the best photo for you.
She labeled the incident as an “error in the matrix that caused her to “nearly throw up in the street” after realizing what had happened.
She concluded by talking about how tech support people at the Apple Store called it “a million to one chance” but said it resulted in “the best day I’ve had on the internet in a while.”
Despite Tessa’s understandably shocked reaction, others saw the funny side of the incident when they commented on her post on Instagram.
Fellow author and comedian Catherine Cohen wrote: “This is the new black and gold dress.”
A second commented: ‘Obsessed that this is the crazy way you accidentally announced the engagement.’
A third added: ‘3 different dimensions?! What is going on?!???’
