Bride-to-be sparks furious debate after revealing she UNINVITED her own sister from her wedding over the raunchy outfit she was planning to wear

Something borrowed, something blue – and maybe some underwear for the bridesmaids too.

A bride-to-be has outraged her family after threatening not to invite her sister to her wedding if she refused to choose a different bridesmaid dress.

The unnamed woman, believed to be from the US, said the outfit her sister chose was too risque – with “a slit up to her waist and her back and chest barely covered.”

The 26-year-old bride shared her riddle in a post on Reddit’sAm I the A**hole forumin which she explains that her sister, who is 28, has always dressed ‘skimpily’ and that she usually doesn’t mind, but she doesn’t want it on her wedding day.

“We grew up in a liberal family where we were allowed to wear anything or nothing at home,” the post said. ‘My sister always dressed very scantily and I didn’t mind because I was used to that at home.’

However, the woman, who is getting married in February 2024, was shocked when her sister showed her what she planned to wear.

“I was shocked, to say the least,” she admitted. ‘It is clear from the dress that she is not wearing a bra or panties as there is a slit down to her waist and her back and chest are barely covered.’

Although she’s used to her sister’s revealing style, the engaged woman said she doesn’t feel comfortable with what she’s decided to wear for her big day.

“I feel uncomfortable when she is around other people, especially my fiancé and his family, and looks like this,” she explained. “My parents don’t see anything wrong with her outfit.”

Dissatisfied with her family’s reaction, she gave her sister an ultimatum: if she doesn’t find another (and more appropriate) dress, she will no longer be one of the bridesmaids and will no longer be invited to the wedding.

“(My sister) thinks I’m unfair because I don’t have the right to decide what people wear and I also let all the bridesmaids choose the design they wanted as long as they stuck to the colors I gave,” she said strict.

Reddit users agreed that the bride wasn’t wrong and that her sister should adhere to her clothing requests

“Her chosen color stays with the color scheme and that’s okay, but the design makes me feel like it’s not appropriate,” she argued. “I don’t want my sister to show my guests, but she called me an asshole when I stopped inviting her.”

“Now she and my parents don’t talk to me anymore,” the anguished bride concluded her post. “My fiancée said he has no opinion about it and would agree with what I decided.”

Reddit users responded overwhelmingly on the bride’s side, agreeing that she has every right to dictate that her bridesmaids can’t wear anything too spicy.

“Oh, for crying out loud. Dress codes exist everywhere in life, and yes, the host of an event can set the dress code,” another agreed.

Some users thought the nurse dressed like this to get attention.

“Any bridesmaid wearing a dress like this and standing right next to the bride will get ALL the attention and she will be ALL that people talk about/remember,” one person said.

“I really don’t think (your) sister is doing this because she likes the dress, she wants to be the center of attention.”

‘Precisely. I did this at my wedding and it was no problem… My bridesmaids got dresses that they liked and kept, and everyone looked extremely good, but I was given approval/veto,” another explained.

‘It is right that the sister AND the parents react this way. Most bridesmaids don’t get a say at all.’
