The anonymous Reddit user said she’s been looking for her perfect dress “for the past few months.”

Her aunt had asked the bride-to-be’s mother to see some of the dresses she’d tried on before sending back a video of “one of our last picks.”

But that’s where things started to take a turn.

Just a few weeks later, the woman received a call from the wedding dress boutique where she had already made a down payment for her dream dress.

“They told me that my cousin and her mom had come to their store with the video of me in my dress and asked for something that looked just like it.

“One of their sales associates sold them the exact same dress in a cream color instead of white (which was the color of my dress),” the post continued.

The woman explained that she no longer wanted to wear the dress and the store offered her a full refund after realizing that “two girls from the same family can’t wear the same one.”

She later added an update to the post revealing how she’d decided on a “different, much more fabulous dress” [her] wedding’ – which was still on the agenda for some time after her cousin’s wedding.

She explained that she was aggravated by her 28-year-old cousin who

Meanwhile, the woman was initially “incredulous and hoped it was all a terrible confusion.”

However, she claimed that her intervening attempts to contact her cousin about the matter were rejected until the night before her cousin’s wedding.

She eventually gave in and brought it out. It was, of course, exactly the same dress,” the woman wrote.

“I was extremely hurt and asked why she went out of her way to steal my wedding dress when she knew full well that her marriage is for mine, which means everyone would see it on her before me.

The woman added that if her cousin had at least spoken to her beforehand, “I might have chosen to give her the dress.”

However, according to the woman, her cousin would rather have “gone behind my back and chose to lie about it repeatedly.”

That said, the woman claims her family says she overreacted and should have waited until after her cousin’s wedding to bring it up.

But it seems that the majority of comments overwhelmingly sided with the woman – dubbing her as NTA – “not the bastard.”

‘NTA. This seems a bit insane on her part tbh. Your pain is perfectly reasonable.” a Redditor wrote.

“I’m a straight boring dude who hates marriage culture. If her actions are clearly wrong to me, then it’s pretty bad.”

‘Wow. That’s really mean what your cousin and aunt did to you! Absolutely NTA,” another chimed in, following up on the question, “Does your cousin have some sort of old rivalry with you?”

The woman replied, “If there’s any rivalry, it’s definitely one-sided… For my part, I’ve always tried to make an effort with her, but since I grew up and realized how weird our dynamics are, I haven’t more effort. .’

Another commenter echoed, “NTA…Your aunt and cousin have very low values and a misplaced sense of competition…

“Please, when/if you and your partner have decided to have children, don’t share potential baby names until the ink on the birth certificate is dry.”
