Bride-to-be almost MISSES her big day after her flight to the wedding gets CANCELED the night before due to Boeing 737 Max 9 groundings

A bride-to-be has revealed that she and her fiancé almost missed their big day after the flight they were due to take to their wedding was canceled the night before due to the recent Boeing 737 Max 9 landings.

Emma Degerstedt and Shane Molidor, from New York, were left confused after being notified hours before takeoff that the plane they were taking to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for their wedding this weekend was no longer in service.

United Airlines told the couple that there were a few other options they could take, but when they went to rebook their reservation, they discovered that all the new flights were full, meaning they would be put on the standby list.

Terrified that she might not make it in time to walk down the aisle, Emma took to TikTok to share her horror at the situation.

In the video, posted on Tuesday, the panicked bride-to-be explained that she had just found out their flight for the next morning had been cancelled.

“We’re flying to our wedding tomorrow morning and United just told us our flight has been canceled,” she said frantically.

“They said, ‘Here are three flights you can take instead.’ Great but not ideal. But we said, “You know what, we’ve got to get there,” so we click on it and find out it’s on standby, no guarantee.”

Emma added that although she knew accidents would happen in the run-up to her big day, she never expected something like this to happen.

‘When people told me that things might be wrong before your wedding, this wasn’t… I thought the florist would (mess up) the flowers at our wedding, which is something I can do, not that we wouldn’t be there for our wedding,” she joked. “United, help.”

In a follow-up video, Emma explained that the flight they were originally scheduled to take was scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m., and luckily the wedding festivities wouldn’t start until Friday afternoon — so they still had some time to get there.

She added that she “found out why the flight was cancelled” – and it was because the plane they were supposed to take was a Boeing 737 Max 9.

On January 5, an Alaskan Airlines flight suffered a terrifying door slam mid-flight, leading to an emergency landing.

“Remember that Alaskan Airlines flight where the door flew off? That was our plane. A Boeing Max 9. It was recalled because the doors were flying off,” Emma told her followers.

“There are only 80 of those planes in the entire United States, and we happened to be in one of them. Is this an omen?’ she wondered.

Luckily, Emma revealed on Wednesday that they could make it to Florida, but they had to book a new flight on American Airlines, which left at 6:30 a.m. and had a layover in Miami.

“Two expensive flights and Ubers later we made it,” she captioned a video of her and her fiancé Shane kissing on the beach.

While we were discussing the travel disaster with InsiderEmma explained that they were ’emotionally prepared’ for flight delays due to weather – as they were traveling in winter – but they never expected such an issue to arise.

“We didn’t think that doors, windows and door plugs flying off planes and loose bolts would be the reason our flight was completely canceled,” she said.

Despite the initial panic, Emma told the publication that she knew they would find a way to get to the wedding.

‘We fly from a different airport. We fly to another airport. We’re taking a train. We’ll do what we have to do,” she remembered thinking.

Unfortunately, she revealed that ten of their guests were due to fly on a Boeing 737 Max 9 and were now experiencing similar problems.

Five were able to get new flights, but she’s not sure if the other five will make it.

Still, she looks at the situation positively and concludes: “Maybe this is a good omen, like rain on your wedding day.”
