I had six strict rules for my wedding and people said I have ‘control issues’ – I’m not a bridezilla, people need to learn respect

A woman has revealed six controversial wedding rules that left her dubbed a ‘bridezilla’ by unimpressed guests.

Newlywed Rachel from Orange County, California, imposed a strict list of rules on her guests, leading people to accuse her of having “control issues.”

However, she claimed that opponents simply couldn’t “respect” the rules she and her partner had set for their big day.

Going on TikTok @hairbyrayyycheelll The bride shared a clip that has been viewed more than 9.7 million times, in which she outlined her requirements for her wedding, including that no one could be under 21, despite the fact that numerous guests had asked to bring their children.

Rachel only made an exception for the flower girl and the ring bearer, who went home immediately after the ceremony.

Newlywed Rachel from Orange County, California, revealed her six controversial wedding rules and said people called her a ‘bridezilla’

She said, “We didn’t want any liability, there was a lake on the property. No kids. Weddings are no place for a kid. Parents, take the night off. Have some cocktails with your friends and family.”

Rule number two, however, provided the biggest drama starter: she required that witnesses not drink alcohol before the ceremony.

She said, ‘I’ve been to so many weddings where the groomsmen and groomsmen are completely wasted and can’t even function during the ceremony. Just wait until the reception. Some people talk shit about me there, but I don’t care.’

The bride claimed it was absolutely not allowed because she wanted to ‘get to know everyone at our wedding’.

She said, “Don’t ask to bring a plus one, if we wanted that person we would have invited them. We didn’t. This actually happened quite often and it was very stressful.”

The newlyweds also had a dress code for guests: they were allowed to wear neutral colors and jeans were prohibited.

She said, ‘Don’t wear jeans to a formal wedding, just wear wedding clothes, a few of you, you know who you are.

“We asked families to stick to the wedding colors and not make a big deal about it. We wanted our wedding photos to be neutral and unobtrusive. They look great now, but we did get some criticism for that.”

Her final rule – no standing in the aisle to take photos – was broken, ruining her professional snaps.

“There was someone standing in the middle of our aisle and she’s in the background of all our photos,” Rachel fumed.

The video caused a stir and thousands of people took to the comments to share their opinions.

Someone said, ‘Too many damn rules. I would have stayed home.’

Another said: ‘Lmao did anyone show up? This would have been the fastest drop in history.’

Someone else said, “Lol, if my kids aren’t invited, I won’t be either. We don’t have the luxury of a babysitter.”

However, some were more positive, such as one example that focused on mothers who complained that they could not find a babysitter.

‘Invitations are sent out MONTHS (usually 1 year) before the wedding. You didn’t plan ahead.’

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: ‘I don’t know why people have such a big problem with the rules surrounding a wedding. If you don’t like the rules, don’t go. It’s that simple.’
