Bride and Prejudice Dannii Erskine is alive: Star breaks silence on false car crash death claims

Bride and Prejudice star Dannii Erskine has spoken out to confirm that reports of her death in a car crash were false.

The 28-year-old broke her silence on Wednesday to debunk false claims that she had been “towed” by a drunk driver and that her “skull was crushed in an airbag collision.”

The reality star released a statement through a friend denying her death and stating that an unidentified hacker spread the wild story.

“On April 29, 2023, my Instagram account was hacked,” the statement reads So dramatic began.

The statement further revealed that Erskine had received a Gmail notification that the hacker lived in the Geelong area and that police would be ‘looking into it’.

But the now debunked news of Erskine’s gruesome demise seems to have driven a wedge between the colorful blonde and her family.

“I spoke to my family who advised me to focus on my upcoming surgery,” the statement continued.

The reality star got into a car accident, but that was in September 2022 and it was far from fatal.

The accident resulted in a serious ankle injury that kept her home for six months and required multiple hospitalizations, including rehabilitation.

She underwent ankle reconstruction this week.

Erskine also addressed a mysterious email sent to the gossip publication during the hack saga.

“I was advised not to comment, my sister never emailed So Dramatic. All I know is that it was sent by someone who hacked into my account,” she said.

“I spent all week in the hospital for an ankle reconstruction. I can’t control what the media says, but I was advised by doctors to focus on my foot recovery,” she concluded.

Dannii’s “death” was announced on May 2 by the So Dramatic podcast.

A person falsely claiming to be her ‘sister’ Dee said Dannii died in hospital following a horrific car accident in North Melbourne that left her brain dead.

‘If [Dannii] went through a green light, a driver was drunk and T-banged her. She was alive and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, “the person who falsely claimed to be her sister.” told the So dramatic podcast via email.

“She passed away on the morning of the 29th [of April] at 12:01 am… She will be loved, sorely missed and it was a terrible tragedy. Please be safe on the roads. This can happen to anyone.’

That claim was subsequently disputed by Victoria Police and the coroner, who said no accidents or deaths of this nature had been reported at the time.

Police sources also confirmed to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday that Dannii was ‘alive and well’ according to their internal systems.

Victoria Police said they could not comment on individuals due to privacy laws, but confirmed no fatal or life-threatening collisions had been recorded in the North Melbourne area over the past month.

The Coroner’s Court of Victoria also stated that they had no record of Dannii Erskine’s death, and atold an anonymous source 7NEWS.com.au that Dannii was still alive.

Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that Dannii faked her own death or was personally involved in spreading false information, accepting that the false information was spread by a hacker.

In an interview with So Dramatic, Dannii’s ex-partner Denton Ansley recalled a similar incident from the previous year where people received a mass message from Erskine’s account claiming she had died.

However, she later said, and there is no suggestion to the contrary, that her account was hacked and she was still alive.

Mr Ansley also claimed that friends had done so received a message detailing a funeral service on May 16 on the Mornington Peninsula.

When they contacted the funeral company, they found that no funeral had been scheduled under Dannii’s name on that date.

Erskine’s Instagram account, which was deleted shortly after her alleged death, has been reactivated.

All posts related to her death have been deleted, but the “Rest in Peace” memorial photo remains the account’s profile picture.

Dannii took part in Seven’s Bride and Prejudice in 2019 with her then fiancé, a man named Denton.
