An elderly woman was airlifted to hospital after her home was set on fire following a domestic violence scare.

The 65-year-old suffered severe burns to 90 per cent of her body when her home on Bribbaree Road, Bribbaree, in NSW's South West Slopes, went up in flames at 12.15pm on Sunday.

Police launched a manhunt for her 42-year-old son shortly afterwards, and he turned himself into Parkes police station, 90 miles away, later that afternoon.
