Brentford is considering a late move for Marseille midfielder Azzedine Ounahi before the transfer window closes on Friday.

The Bees have enjoyed a busy recruiting summer so far, but are looking to further strengthen in the remaining available days.

Thomas Frank is eager to bring in more midfield reinforcements and has reserved Ounahi for a possible move from France to the Premier League.

Brentford has now contacted Marseille about the possibility of negotiating a deal for the 23-year-old Morocco international.

Ounahi caught the eye of newcomers with a string of standout performances at the World Cup in Qatar, with Morocco becoming surprise semi-finalists.

He started every match at the World Cup, except third place in the play-off against Croatia, and impressed in midfield alongside Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat.

Brentford got off to an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, drawing Spurs and Crystal Palace and beating Fulham, but at times it seemed he lacked creativity.

The Marseille star could help solve that problem, but has struggled to find consistency playing in France in recent seasons.

Last season, he missed 12 games with both the club and the national team due to a broken toe, sidelining Ounahi for 81 days.

The midfielder only moved to Marseille in January this year and has so far made just 12 appearances in all competitions for the southern France team.
