The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is just a week away from release, and many Nintendo Switch owners might be saying to themselves, “Oh, yeah, what exactly happened in Breath of the Wild?” After all, it’s been over six years Breath of the Wild landed on Switch (and Wii U), and a refresher course may be in order.
Thankfully, Nintendo is well aware of potential fogginess surrounding the larger plot points of Breath of the Wild, especially since some players spent most of their time in that game completing shrines, hunting hundreds of Korok seeds, and staring at Prince Sidon. To get players back on track for Link’s next adventure, Nintendo has updated the story of Breath of the Wild in a six minute video. It explains why Link took a 100-year nap, reminds you of Zelda’s all-important role in curbing Calamity Ganon’s evil, and addresses where Link and Zelda ended up at the end of the game.
A big part of Nintendo’s Breath of the Wild story summary video is about the century before the events of the game itself, and it’s pretty high level stuff. The video does not delve into many of the side characters or additional stories of Breath of the Wildbut it’s a solid primer for players who jump in Tears of the Kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12.
