Breaking: Two schools in Prince George’s County Maryland are on lockdown after a young girl was shot

A young girl has suffered “critical injuries” after a shooting in Maryland and at least two area schools have been placed on lockdown.

Prince George’s County police said officers are on scene near Palamar Drive and Woodstream Drive in Lanham, on the outskirts of Washington DC.

They describe the situation as ‘active’ and it is not clear whether a suspect has been arrested.

“We are on the scene of a shooting near Palamar Dr & Woodstream Dr in Lanham, the department said.

‘Prelim: Female victim transported with serious injuries.

“Two nearby schools with after-school activities – DuVal HS and Robert Goddard MS – are on lockdown. Active research.’

The age of the victim is not yet known, but police say it is a ‘young person’ NBC.
