Two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at a Texas shopping mall.

The area around the Arboretum in north Austin, Texas remains under lockdown and the shooter is reportedly in custody.

Austin police were called to the 10000 block of the Research Boulevard service road shortly after 5 p.m. after gunfire broke out in the mall.

According to witnesses, there are more than 30 emergency vehicles at the scene of the active shooting, as well as a helicopter.

Police said in a statement tonight, “APD officers are responding to an incident at the 10000 block of Research Blvd. Avoid the area and follow directions from agents on site. PIO responds.

Officers have the situation under control at the moment, but continue to avoid the area. At the moment there is no question of a continuing threat to the population.’
