BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool ‘agree £60m deal to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton’ – £10m above their previous asking price – but Chelsea could still trump them AGAIN after beating Reds in £115m battle for Moses Caicedo
Liverpool have agreed a £60 million deal to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton, according to reports.
The Reds have been strong candidates for the Belgian’s services all summer, but now appear to have taken a major step towards securing the deal ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have also been linked in recent weeks with a £111 million transfer for Moises Caicedo from Brighton, although they now appear to have been beaten by Chelsea, who have accepted a £115 million offer.
The deal is not yet final, however, with Chelsea also under the Southampton starlet, who impressed a number of clubs in his Premier League debut last season.
The Blues could still trump Liverpool with his signature, which would be a bitter blow not only to their midfield rebuild this summer, but perhaps their credibility in the transfer market.
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £60 million deal to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton
The Reds turned down advances for Lavia this summer, having already added Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in the center of the park.
Still, Southampton had held out for around £50 million for one of their most prized assets as they look to return to the Premier League at the first opportunity.
But according to reports from the Guardian, they have now accepted an offer of around £10 million above the requested offer for the player.
