Flamengo have reportedly ended talks with former Manchester United star Anthony Martial.

Martial was sacked by Man United when his contract expired at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old player is still a free agent, but has been linked with several players during the summer transfer window.

Last week it was announced that Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo wanted to secure his services after Pedro suffered a serious knee injury.

However, Today hour have claimed they are now turning their attention elsewhere due to Martial’s ‘unworkable’ demands.

The 28-year-old wanted a three-year contract and a salary that Flamengo did not want to consider.

The two sides were too far apart to have any hope of successful negotiations.

AEK Athens have also made a bid for Martial in recent weeks.

They reportedly offered Martial the biggest contract in the club’s history in a bid to convince him to sign.

Man United signed Martial, then one of the most promising young players in world football, from AS Monaco in 2015 for a transfer fee that could rise to £58 million with bonuses.

He scored 17 times in his debut season, but proved frustratingly inconsistent towards the end of his career at Old Trafford, with his goalscoring output declining and injury problems increasing.

His best return in United colours came when he scored 23 times in 2019-20 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he struggled to replicate that form, scoring 90 goals in 317 games in total.

Martial has also been linked with Atalanta and Lille.
