Stunning footage has emerged of brazen thieves stealing cartons of booze from a bottle shop while shocked customers look on in horror.

A manhunt was launched for four masked men involved in a daylight robbery at Springback Plaza BWS in Burton, north Adelaide, on Saturday.

Images later shared on TikTok show a group of men dressed as ‘eshays’ with hoods over their heads stacking three carts with cartons of alcohol, including raspberry Vodka Cruisers, cider and whiskey and cola.

The thieves try to protect their faces as they run out of the store without paying for their expensive loot, despite the protests of a staff member and disgruntled customers.

‘I hope you guys are proud!’ a man screams.

‘Damn idiots’

The video drew nearly half a million views and almost 2,000 comments in a matter of hours.

There was debate as to whether customers and staff should have stepped in and stopped.

‘The first few seconds it was pretty obvious that these people weren’t paying…why was the door open?’ one commented.

Another added: ‘You should have some kind of system that has a button behind the counter to lock the automatic sliding doors.

Others believed that bystanders and staff made the right decision in letting them go without exposing themselves to risk.

‘All the people commenting ‘how come nobody stopped them?’ Clearly, I’ve never worked on a bottle-or before’, argued one woman:

Another added: ‘Let them go, it’s not worth the risk. Karma will catch up with them.

The men tried to protect their faces as they planned to escape from the store.

Some viewers mocked the robbers’ choice of liquor.

‘Unprofessional, at least pinch things off the top shelf,’ one commented.

Another quipped, “I took the most girly drinks off the shelf.”

South Australian Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday night that they are investigating the incident which occurred on Waterloo Corner Road shortly before 2pm.

“The four robbers loaded shopping carts with alcohol and left without paying,” a spokeswoman said.

‘No injuries were reported during the incident.

‘Investigations into the robbery continue.

The men wore shorts, sweatpants, down jackets and other clothing associated with ‘eshays’

Traditionally, eshays tend to come from low-income areas, and the subculture grew out of Sydney’s inner-city graffiti scene in the 1980s.

Eshays are now more mainstream and widely promoted on social media.

An eshay is easily identifiable by athletic trainers, worn with polo shirts, puffer jackets, sweatpants or baggy shorts, and baseball caps.

Police are now investigating the brazen robbery in north Adelaide on Saturday.
