Brazen teens caught dumping trash off Florida party boat turn themselves in after authorities showed up parent’s door and now face felony charges

A pair of teens caught dumping trash from a party boat in Florida have turned themselves in after authorities showed up at their parents’ home.

They were reportedly part of a group of partygoers who were seen pouring their cans and bottles into the Atlantic Ocean and openly celebrating the litter.

An investigation was subsequently launched by the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) and a 15-year-old from Gulfstream and a 16-year-old from Boynton Beach were identified through the boat’s registration.

They now face a third-degree felony charge of causing pollution with intent to harm the health or welfare of humans, life or property of animals, plants or water. WFLA.

FWC officials met with the 15-year-old’s father, who told them that “this is not a representation of who we are.”

Video of the teens allegedly dumping waste into the ocean has gone viral and the FWC said the boat’s operator and a second person were responsible.

They identified them by tracking down the boat’s owner and going to their address.

Investigators were met by the 15-year-old’s father, who asked to make an appointment with the legal advisor present.

“This has become a global story,” FWC Chairman Rodney Barreto said during a committee meeting Wednesday.

‘This weekend my phone blew up. Hopefully it will be a huge learning experience for them all.”

Col. Brian Smith, director of the Division of Law Enforcement, previously said, “We need to send a message that Florida will not tolerate this and that we want to protect our environment.”

The teenagers are said to have been part of the annual Boca Bash in Florida, which was in full swing last weekend.

About 10,000 partygoers took to the sea for a wild party as the drinks flowed.

Officials arrested nearly two dozen partygoers, unrelated to the trash incident, on charges related to boating under the influence and drug offenses.

According to Boca News, the large group of people were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday morning.

Boca Bash representatives say they have identified the party boys and called their behavior

Boca Bash representatives say they have identified the party boys and called their behavior “completely unacceptable.”

The incident has also upset locals, who noted that no one in the boat stopped the suspects from throwing the trash.

“It really makes you angry to see someone polluting the ocean like that,” said Rodrigo Samsing, a local resident who often takes his boat into the ocean.

“You know, no one else on the boat tried to stop them. Everyone was just partying,” he told WSVN.

What angered Samsing most was that there was no immediate emergency that required the partygoers to dump the trash.

“I mean, they already had the trash in the bin, they could have just put a bag in there, grabbed a bag, filled it up and thrown it away. Instead, they just carelessly dump it into the ocean. “It’s just really sad to see,” he said.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection cited federal law in saying boaters may not dispose of waste “from a boat while in lakes, rivers, bays, sounds and offshore within three miles of the ocean.”

Boca Bash representatives said they had identified the partygoers and called their behavior “completely unacceptable.”

Boca Bash added: “It’s irresponsible boaters like these, who have no care for our oceans whatsoever, that are giving this event a bad reputation.”
