Disturbing footage has captured the moment when a mass brawl broke out at a family night market, leaving a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The violent fight broke out at 8.20pm on Thursday at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market in Darwin.

NT Police said a 43-year-old involved in the brawl collapsed shortly afterwards at a nearby bus stop, while others suffered minor injuries.

The man was found at the Gilruth Avenue bus stop before being taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in critical condition.

Video of the brawl filmed by a witness showed a chaotic scene with several people involved in the punch-on.

A woman fighting in the video can be heard screaming as she deals several blows to another woman.

I want to kill her,’ she said. ‘I’ll kill this son of a bitch.’

A third woman tried to pull her away before the woman was kicked in the face by a man.

“She’s suffocating her, she’s suffocating her, she can’t breathe,” you hear another man yell.

On Monday, an NT Health spokeswoman said a 43-year-old is in stable condition, the NT News reported.

Footage of the fight was shared on social media, where one woman claimed as many as 20 people were involved.

“The tourists must think they’ve landed in a war zone!” she wrote.

The NT police have issued a statement and called on witnesses to report.

“At 8:20 p.m., police received reports of fighting at Mindil Beach Markets on the south side,” it said.

A short time later, a man believed to be involved in the altercation collapsed at a bus stop on Gilruth Avenue.

“St Johns Ambulance has transported the victim to Royal Darwin Hospital in critical condition.”

NT Police said no arrests had been made as of Monday.

“Obviously there were a number of people in the area who witnessed what was going on in relation to this incident,” Sergeant Richard Howie said.

NT Police called on anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward by calling 131 444 and quoting reference number 10336579.
