In a clip, Bradley details: “Pete was the host and comparator for the whole camp, he was like the head of entertainment…

‘He said ‘come down to my static’, because in the past there were static caravans thrown all over the place and you could sit in them until you went to the shows.

‘And sitting in the corner of his static, watching TV, was his eight-year-old son.’

Pete Conway continued: “Rob came and stayed with me and Bradley came in one day and I said, ‘This young man used to pay for Brentford football’.”

Pete added that at night, he and little Robbie headed to the venue to watch Bradley do cabaret.

“I’d be at half past nine for three-quarters of an hour, if I remember correctly,” Pete said. ‘He was… ‘entertaining’ shall we say?’

An off-camera voice asks if he can elaborate, but Pete says no with a laugh.

Years later, when he was breaking into television, Bradley would discover that this little boy with the decent left foot had done pretty well.

Robbie asked Bradley: ‘Don’t you remember me?’

“I know you’re obviously from Take That,” the TV star quipped. Robbie then exclaimed, “I’m the son of Pete Conway.”

‘I said, ‘are you kidding!’ She said “no no no”. Well, you could have struck me down with a feather. So I’ve known Rob since he was about eight years old.

He said Sun: ‘You know what, in a couple of years I won’t have to do any of that, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it.’

Bradley, who hosts The Chase and its spinoff shows Celebrity Chase and Beat The Chasers, also said he only tapes the shows 86 days a year.

However, he explained: ‘Out of 365 days, you can imagine I have a lot of free time. But once you’ve established your show base, that will allow you to go out and do other things.

“I don’t really have any free time, I have meetings, I have personal appearances that I have to do and things like that with other things that I have, so it’s quite difficult to juggle.”
