Bradley Cooper hits the red carpet to support director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s new Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black in New York City

Bradley Cooper hit the road to show his support for director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her new Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black.

The 49-year-old Cooper – himself no stranger to the musical biopic, coming from his Leonard Cohen biopic Maestro – was all smiles at the premiere in New York.

He posed with the 57-year-old filmmaker at the red carpet event, held Tuesday at AMC Lincoln Square.

The film stars Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse, although the film does not receive the best reviews and has a score of 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Back to Black opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, though forecasts are pretty week, predicting a box office debut in the $4 million to $6 million range.

Cooper stepped out in a white T-shirt under a slightly unbuttoned black shirt, while the actor sported a scruffy beard.

He also wore dark gray Louis Vuitton dress pants with dark gray running shoes, while holding a black baseball cap.

Director Taylor-Johnson opted for a chocolate brown dress with two gold chains dangling from her neck.

She also accessorized with some silver earrings with a brown leather jacket over her dress.

The filmmaker – who tied the knot with 33-year-old Aaron Taylor-Johnson in 2012 – completed her look with black pumps.

Taylor-Johnson’s new film Back to Black follows the life of Amy Winehouse, named after the 2006 album with her worldwide hit Rehab.

Winehouse won five Grammys for her breakthrough album, the first British woman ever to do so, although she would die just a few years later at the age of 27.

After her death in 2011 from alcohol poisoning, several biopics attempted to get off the ground, including one that would star Noomi Rapace.

No one moved forward until 2018, when the Winehouse estate signed a deal for a biopic, with Taylor-Johnson on board in July 2022.

He will also star in a new film as Frank Bullitt, the iconic character Steve McQueen played in the 1968 classic Bullitt, which Steven Spielberg is directing.
