Brad Pitt let his 105-year-old neighbor live rent-free on his former $39 million estate for years, reveals Elvira star Cassandra Peterson: ‘He was very, very nice’
Elvira star Cassandra Peterson has revealed in a new interview with Brad Pitt that his 105-year-old neighbor lived rent-free on his former $39 million estate in LA for years. People.
The Oscar-winning actor, 59, who sold his estate in Los Feliz, California in March after nearly three decades, was the perfect neighbor for his elderly friend after his wife passed away, allowing him to become a tenant on the estate.
Peterson, 71, who became neighbors next door to Pitt after she sold him her home in 1994, said Pitt built his estate by acquiring surrounding properties, one of which belonged to a man in his early 90s.
She said, “He was very, very nice to the man. His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there. I know Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died.
“It was kind of funny because John turned 105. I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there until he dies, which could be any minute now.

Peterson said the actor was always “nice and sweet” to her throughout their years as neighbors, revealing that she “almost passed out” when she saw the star punch shirtless and a sack in preparation for the 1999 movie Fight Club.
She added: “I remember him saying, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘Huh?’ I couldn’t talk. I turned red. I felt like I was going to pass out,” she continues. “He’s just so stunning, stunningly handsome—and fun, to top it off.”
Last month, Pitt sold his compound after owning and remodeling it for nearly three decades.
The actor sold it for $39 million, which is a far cry from the $1.7 million he paid when he bought the house from horror icon Elvira in 1994, according to TMZ.
The property was originally on the market in January for $45 million, but it’s unclear what led to the price drop.
Pitt famously lived in the house with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six children prior to their split in 2016, but he also lived in it independently for many years.
The Fight Club actor was set to move from Los Angeles to a $40 million abode in the small beach town of Carmel in Northern California.
It came just ahead of the April 1 start date for Los Angeles’ new “gentleman tax,” which is said to be the reason for the recent surge in A-listers fleeing the affluent area.
