Brad Pitt cut a nonchalant figure as he attended the Formula 1 US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas on Friday.

The 58-year-old actor kept it quiet in a white T-shirt, which he combined with a light blue zipped jacket and matching wide trousers.

His last sighting came on a day when he was holding a dinner meeting with Lewis Hamilton to map out their upcoming Formula 1 blockbuster.

He was also featured in a deep conversation with Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner, the husband of Spice Girl Geri Horner.

Lewis, 37, is producing a new film starring Brad as a former racing driver who comes after retirement to coach an up-and-coming talent.

Tucked away in a private room at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood Restaurant in downtown Austin on Thursday night, the pair were joined by Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media – the American company that owns F1 – was in attendance, as were Lewis’ father, Anthony and stepmother, Linda.

Joseph Kosinski – the man behind Top Gun: Maverick, who will direct the F1 film – was also at the table.

It’s hoped it will build on Netflix’s Drive to Survive series, which has attracted a new audience that now understands that what happens on the track is only a fraction of what this sport is about.

Lewis gave a speech that was greeted with warm applause and then they stopped.

The film, which bears the working title Formula One, can be unveiled will involve all teams in real action at Grands Prix – an idea discussed when Domenicali and Pitt watched Top Gun: Maverick in London together earlier this year.

It will air on Apple TV, who announced in June that they’d gotten the rights for $140 million (£125 million).
