Brad Fletcher is charged with murdering a bloke then dumping his body on a footpath in Mount Druitt. Here’s why his family claim everything is not as it seems

The man reportedly killed in a fight at a suburban home in western Sydney was plagued by a medical condition that left him with fragile, brittle bones.

Now his family has hit back at claims that Bradley Evennett, 32, was involved in martial arts and was coached in cage fighting by his alleged killer, Brad Fletcher, 38.

The pair were pictured cuddling in a haunting final social media post just weeks before Mr Evennett died.

But Fletcher was arrested by police after he was allegedly found in bushes near Mr Evennett’s body, which was dumped close to his home.

Fletcher was accused of killing Mr Evennett just hours after the couple moved into their new home together on Annan Avenue in Melonba, near Mount Druitt, on Friday evening.

NSW Police allege Fletcher murdered Mr Evennett between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday, March 22.

They claim he then drove his body 700 meters down the road and left it on a footpath, where it was discovered by a mother walking with her two children.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, friends and family of Mr Evennett rejected suggestions that he was involved in martial arts.

They revealed that he “always had a bone marrow problem, where his bones would break easily throughout his life,” one said.

‘He’s funny and humble, and not a fighter at all. He was such a wonderful person.’

The close relative added: “He was not a cage fighter, he did not start a career in MMA and had no intention of doing so.”

Mr Evennett’s bone marrow disease meant he had to be careful with even simple movements and never become involved in any form of physical struggle.

Detectives are said to have found the Annan Avenue house in a state ‘consistent with a struggle’ after searching it following the discovery of Mr Evennett’s body lying on nearby Georgina Crescent.

Police said in a statement they found “a deceased man with significant head and body injuries and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and treated the man, but he died at the scene.”

Shortly afterwards, police were called to a nearby collision with a parked car from a vehicle they claimed was being used to transport Mr Evennett’s body to where it had been dumped.

Police then ‘located and arrested a man who had been hiding in bushes’ and took him to Mount Druitt Police Station.

The mother who made the shocking discovery of Mr Evennett’s body on the footpath described how she had initially walked past the scene and seen ‘nothing’, but when I came back after ten minutes the man was here, I saw him’ , she said. Nine news.

Emergency services arrived on scene at around 8.45pm but were unable to revive Mr Evennett.

Fletcher was charged with murder and formally refused bail at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

The close friendship between Mr. Evennett and Fletcher is evident in a photo of the pair sitting close on a couch as Mr. Evennett kisses Fletcher’s cheek.

The photo was taken just seven weeks before Mr Evennett’s death.

In another photo with a pregnant woman, believed to be Fletcher’s former partner, the alleged victim has his arm around Fletcher’s shoulder.
