Moment boy, five, is led into a ‘drugs den’ by his mother before having ‘half his scalp ripped off’ by ‘XL Bully’ with savage attack only ending when three people managed to wrestle out-of-control animal off him

A five-year-old boy who was attacked by an XL Bully had ‘half of his scalp ripped off’ during the horrific attack.

The terrifying incident happened on Bank Holiday Monday at a derelict house which locals claim is a known drug den in Hull, East Yorkshire.

CCTV footage from a neighboring house shows the mother and her child entering the property with another man, who claimed to be a local drug dealer. Seconds later, blood-curdling screams can be heard from the camera coming from the house.

The mother is then heard begging for an ambulance as she appears on the street wailing with her child in her arms before a stranger offers to take the boy to hospital.

The boy is now receiving treatment after the brutal attack which left ‘half of his scalp ripped off’. Family friends say the boy is lucky to be alive thanks to three men who wrestled the dog from him.

Police later arrive at the property to seize the out-of-control dog, while the owner, dressed in a black top and gray trousers, begs officers to let her put a muzzle on the animal instead.

The attack in Hull comes just hours before another boy, 15, was destroyed by an XL Bully in Caerphilly, South Wales – just a few miles from two previous fatal XL Bully attacks in the city.

In footage of the incident in Hull, a woman can be heard sobbing: ‘Now. Now. Call an ambulance. Now. Now!’, while her child is heard saying, ‘I don’t like it, Mommy.’

The woman comes back out with the injured child in her arms as a passing motorist, who has no connection to the mother or the building, is seen talking to someone on the phone.

The mother tells the driver that she does not want to wait for an ambulance and they agree to take the child straight to the hospital.

Hours later, half a dozen police vans were seen arriving at the property at 11.57am, which was cordoned off for a painstaking forensic examination.

Footage from later in the afternoon shows officers arriving to collect the dog before remaining on the scene for almost four hours.

The footage shows the owner pleading with officers: ‘You’re hurting him. Let me put the muzzle on him.”

She tells them, “He’s a good dog. I tell you. I can save him.’

The boy’s mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told friends her “brave soldier” son will be “scarred for life” after the horrific attack.

She told friends: ‘He’s doing well. He has been so brave. However, half of his scalp has been torn off and he will be scarred for life.

‘I can’t believe how good he’s been. But he’s a little soldier, bless him.’

A family friend also told MailOnline today that the young lad is lucky to be alive. The woman said the boy is believed to be out of danger but “wouldn’t be here right now” if three men had not managed to pull the dog away.

The friend, who did not want to be named, said: “Everyone is shocked. She followed her son into the house, where he was immediately mauled within seconds.

‘It took three men to get the dog off him. If it weren’t for those three guys, I don’t think the bairn would still be here.

‘He’s fine. He has undergone surgery. But his skull is damaged and he will need more treatment.

‘She hasn’t come back since. She keeps a night vigil. The news spreads quickly on this street.

‘I don’t know what she was doing at home. There are a lot of problems with drugs here, but he doesn’t want anything to do with drugs.

“The dog had only come from a good family home two days earlier.”

A woman who witnessed the attack said: ‘I was in my house. The children were playing. My oldest went up a little and said something is going on outside.

‘I went upstairs and looked out the window. I’ll never get that image out of my head. I wish I knew who the mother is so I could ask how the baby is doing.’

Her husband was in the shower when his wife raised the alarm. He said: ‘They were just visiting the neighbours. I think it happened as soon as they entered the living room.

‘Then we heard the screaming. The boy was completely scalped.

‘We could see how terrible the injury was. Then the car stopped. It was fortunate that he came along. The woman came to me in the shower. She was shaking violently.

“The woman who owned the dog, she doesn’t live there either. It was an XL Bully. The girl who owned it said she had all the paperwork for it.

“She said she had a little girl of her own and she had never behaved like that before.”

There was no response from the house where the attack took place when MailOnline visited on Wednesday, although people had previously been seen in the property.

The locals did not know who lived there, except that it was a man and a woman who were said to be the cousins ​​of the male residents. One said: ‘They’re just trouble.’

The girl who owned the dog is said to be the daughter of the female resident.

Following the horrific attack, Allison Sweeting, DCI at Humberside Police, said: ‘We are working closely with the boy’s family and the dog’s owner to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

‘At this stage the dog breed is believed to be an XL Bully and has been seized as part of our investigation.’

It comes as a 15-year-old boy was attacked by an XL Bully in Caerphilly, South Wales yesterday.

Armed police were called after officers confirmed the dog was an XL Bully after the boy was hospitalized during the attack.

The dog was put down by vets after the boy was taken to hospital after being attacked by the dog.

Tuesday’s attack happened just miles from two previous fatal XL Bully attacks in the city, contributing to a change in property laws.

Schoolboy Jack Lis, ten, and grandmother Shirley Patrick, 83, were both murdered a year apart in the town feared to be a hotspot for dangerous dog breeders.

The incident involving the five-year-old boy comes shortly after the first fatal attack since the breed was banned in February.

Angeline Mahal died earlier this month at her home in Hornchurch, east London, after being mauled by her two registered XL Bullys.

The two registered dogs were seized by police – some with riot shields – after being locked in a room.

One family member, who did not want to be named, said they “always urged her to give up the dogs.”

They added: ‘It was more because the dogs were a bit of a chain, taking up a lot of time eating and walking. It limited her freedom.

‘But there is something I want to make clear and it is that anyone who has an XL Bully type dog should do the right thing if they notice their pet becoming aggressive and giving up on them.

“I know it’s hard because people are so attached, but we wouldn’t want other families to go through this.

“She was a genuine person with such a good heart.”

The relative added: ‘Angeline has always kept dogs, she has done so for years. Her two most recent dogs were XL bullies.

“She had them since they were puppies and had cages for them. They were registered correctly.

‘We don’t know the full details yet, but I think only one of them attacked her. Her two sons found her in the hallway.

‘They tried to revive her, but she was already gone. The police and ambulance staff came by a little later.’

The government introduced the ban on the muscular canines after they were blamed for maulings that have led to at least 11 deaths since 2021. The dead ranged from 17 months to 84 years old.
