Boy Meets World alumni Danielle Fishel Karp may be officially cancer-free, but she’s still in a lot of pain, nearly six months after being diagnosed with stage zero DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ).
According to breastcancer.orgDCIS is located only in your milk ducts (tubes that carry milk to the nipple) and accounts for 20% to 25% of new breast cancer cases diagnosed in the United States.
The 43-year-old former child star previously revealed last October that she had successfully undergone two lumpectomies, followed by 20 radiation treatments.
“I’m officially done with what is considered active cancer treatment,” Danielle announced iHeartRadio podcast sunday.
‘I did fifteen rounds of whole breast radiotherapy and then five rounds of targeted radiotherapy, which means they focus on the very small area where my cancer was, rather than treating the whole breast. It will help significantly reduce my chance of recurrence, which is always good news, but boy, am I feeling the effects.”
Fishel explained to her Pod Meets World co-hosts Rider Strong and Will Friedle that her breasts are literally burned with a “rash on top” due to the “cumulative effect” of the radiation.

“It’s really itchy, and you can’t itch it because if you even get close to it, you want to cry,” the two-time Children’s & Family Emmy Award nominee complained.
‘It hurts to wear a bra, it hurts not to wear a bra. It just hurts to sleep on my side, it hurts to sleep, period. It hurts to be awake.”
And while Danielle is “really tired,” she knows that “it won’t last forever,” as doctors assured her she should be feeling better in “two to three months.”
“If I want to feel better faster, I need to exercise and drink water,” Fishel said of her doctors’ advice.
‘I did start exercising. I worked out yesterday. I’m going to exercise again on Friday because he said all the exercise and drinking helps my body get rid of all the damage the radiation has done.’
The Arizona-born beauty received lots of love and support from her second husband Jensen Karp and their sons Adler, 5; and Keaton, 3.
The married couple of six years attended Calabasas High School together, but they didn’t start dating until 2017.
Danielle previously divorced her Cal State Fullerton sweetheart Tim Belusko in 2016 after just over two years of marital bliss.
