Boy band Overnight wow judges at premiere The Voice Australia: ‘That was incredible’

Channel Seven’s competitive singing show, The Voice, made a triumphant return to screens on Sunday, when Australian boy band Overnight stunned all four judges.

The five young men looked effortlessly stylish as they took the stage to deliver a picture-perfect rendition of the Backstreet Boys’ 1999 hit, Larger Than Life.

Judges Jason Derulo, Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy couldn’t hide their amazement as they watched the incredible performance.

In a rare move, all four judges turned their chairs to endorse the energetic audition.

That was unbelievable. You look great, you sound great, and when I turned around you were all cutting,’ Derulo told them.

Derulo, 33, then pitched for the boys to join his team, prompting fellow judge Rita Ora, 32, to “block” him — so she could pitch for them herself.

“I put a block, I don’t know how much more I can show you that I want you. I really believe I’m good at this. I won last season,” she told them.

However, the boys ultimately chose Team Guy Sebastian, 41, stating that the Australian singer was “organic, raw and real.”

Elsewhere in the show, 21-year-old Shanae had the judges in the palm of her hand with a brilliant rendition of Sia’s Chandelier.

“You sang like an absolute angel,” said judge Guy Sebastian.

Several other young hopefuls also wowed the judges, with Jason gushing “wow, wow, wow” to opera star-to-be Andrew Taylor Knight, 24.

The Voice Australia continues on Channel Seven on Monday at 7.30pm.
