Boy, 14, says he’s traumatized after female teacher, 46, locked him in her classroom and raped him

A 14-year-old boy was left deeply traumatized after his 46-year-old teacher locked him in a classroom and raped him on his eighth-grade graduation day.

Michelle Solis, 46, left her unknown victim “traumatized by feelings of isolation” after the sex attack at Sycamore Middle School in Gridley, California, in 2021.

Solis, a married mother, admitted to the rape and was jailed for four years in July. Her victim has now filed a civil lawsuit against Gridley County School District for failing to stop the attack.

“He is back in the classroom where he had no control over the situation and felt helpless. It was a roller coaster of emotions for the victim,” attorney Mark Boskovich said The Sacramento Bee.

The mother of two, who was arrested last November, had carefully built a close friendship with the child under the guise of helping him with his homework between 2020 and 2021.

She had also interacted with him on multiple social media platforms, especially on Instagram, where they had multiple conversations in 2021.

Michelle Solis, 46, of California, was sentenced to four years in prison for sending explicit photos and having unlawful minor sex with the 14-year-old in a locked classroom

It was later revealed that a yard supervisor had allegedly written passes under Solis’ direction that would allow him to spend recess and lunch with his rapist.

Weeks before his graduation, the married teacher had sent him four explicit photos of herself. During investigation, two of the photos were found in the child’s phone.

On the day of the sex attack, Solis, a veteran teacher with 20 years of experience, had sex with the boy in a classroom at Sycamore Junior High School in Gridley.

It was the same day he graduated eighth grade.

Rumors about what happened quickly began circulating in Gridley – a town about 30 miles south of Chico – as did some explicit photos of the middle-aged teacher.

The rumors and explicit material, which eventually reached the victim’s parents, prompted the police to continue the investigation, including contacting the boy.

During her trial, prosecutors noted that she specifically asked the victim to delete all conversations and photos shared between them after they raped him.

In a new lawsuit filed this week, the victim further accused the school and the Gridley Unified School District of being aware of Solis’ nefarious behavior and failing to protect him. He is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages.

Solis allegedly sent multiple inappropriate sexual messages and photos of herself to students for “a number of years” before she was caught.

Documents allege the district was aware of her abhorrent behavior but never took action.

The child has accused the district of “failing to properly screen Solis, supervise her, discipline her ‘grooming behavior’ and train other employees to detect and stop Solis’ behavior.”

‘Teachers should be wary when they hear of colleagues texting and fraternizing with students outside normal school hours.

“If we do that, we’re going to protect a lot more children,” Boskovich said.

As part of her sentence, Solis must now also register as a sex offender and is ordered to stay away from her former student for ten years

He added that although the district had warned Solis about her behavior, they had not acted quickly to stop her.

The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount of “general damages and other non-economic relief” after the victim suffered physical, mental and emotional injuries.”
